Aldactone Description- Why is Aldactone prescribed?

Aldactone is a potassium-sparing diuretic (water pill) that prevents your body from absorbing too much salt and keeps your potassium levels from getting too low.

Aldactone is prescribed to treat an overabundance of aldosterone in your body. Aldosterone regulates the balance of salt and water in the human body.

Aldactone is also prescribed to treat water retention in people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis of the liver, or nephrotic syndrome. Aldactone can also be prescribed to treat or prevent hypokalemia or low blood potassium levels. Common misspellings of aldactone include altacton, alldactone, altactone, altacktone, aldactin and many others.

Aldactone Side Effects

Aldactone, like all medications, has list of possible side effects. Please seek emergency medical help if you experience any of the following symptoms: the onset of a possible allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; facial swelling or swelling of the tongue or throat. Immediately stop using this medication and notify your doctor if you experience any of the following serious side effects:

numbness or tingly feeling

muscle pain or weakness

slow, fast, or erratic heartbeat

Drowsiness, restlessness, or light-headedness

Differences in urination habits

shallow breathing
